Cloud Mountain

Setting autumn sun
Warms the eastern slopes; roiling
Lavender clouds rise ...

Looming high above
The wall of Blue Ridge Mountains,
Shapeless forms converge ...

For a brief moment,
I thought I saw perfection --
Fujiyama-san.

The sky was so amazing -- I must have at least ten shots that I edited down to four. But the last one really did look like Mt. Fuji to me (I saw it once through an airplane window -- but the shape is familiar from so many pictures . . . )

Thank you, Susan!

Beautiful photos perfectly paired with your haiku (haikus?). Loved them!

I have been catching up on all the posts that I missed while I was away. Your mushroom pictures were excellent, the color shapes, etc. There were quite a few mushrooms in our yard but I would be afraid to cook them as I am not sure of their variety. I kept looking at the Slide file you made – I was fascinated by the kaleidoscope type of pictures – the colors are amazing – I had never seen this program. I went to get the pretty prize given to me a couple months ago by Celeste Maia but I did not know how to connect her name to it like you did.
Your photographs are outstanding. I keep taking pictures with my Nikon D40 but wish I had a better lens – I need to save to buy a good one. While on my trip I must have pushed the wrong button – when I look back at a picture now, under the view of the picture in the bottom right where it gives the picture number - it used to say “normal” above it but since I did something or other it now says “highlight” and the light areas of the picture keep flashing. I tried to read the instructions book and found where you can do these “highlights” but not how to remove them or remove the flashing. It is so annoying – I don’t know what to do. It does not hurt the pictures though. I am still using the “automatic” setting only. I need to really study the book but, while we were away, there was a leak in our kitchen which destroyed the floor – so there is a lot of work coming up and we cannot use the sink nor the dishwasher and the floor has huge bumps in it (Thanksgiving will have to be at the Marietta Diner.) I enjoyed reading all your posts and looking at your very good pictures. Thanks for your comments on my blog and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you, Victoria...and Happy Thanksgiving!

Vagabonde -- your pictures are lovely. I am just learning to use my D90 and I mostly shoot in P (program) switching to Automatic for time when I'll need the flash.

I've done the same thing -- hit some unknown button and end up with some weird pics (or no pics at all.)
Like you, I really need to study the owner's manual. But I seem to learn best in small increments. The same is true for all the computer thingies.

The lens I have is a Nikkor 18-200 mm and I really, really like it for its range,

Condolences on your kitchen woes -- but just now, the thought of eating Thanksgiving dinner at the Marietta Diner is slightly appealing -- I've got to go get busy with ours!
