Have You Talked to Your Kittehs About Catnip?

Tammy, the kind shepherdess and crazy cat lady at Fairlight Farm sent Cory and Angeline a package of kitteh toys made with, among other things) her own home grown wool, felt, and catnip. It was a big hit.

Oh boy -- your cats are in seventh heaven! I used to grow catnip and had some neighbor's cats that checked it out on a regular basis.Post makes me smile -- barbara

What dahlings...what trippin' felines. And some author has put words to their feelings pretty darn well!

The weird thing about catnip is that some cats are completely indifferent to it while others can get drunk on the smell. (We had a cat roll off the porch once while he was 'nipping. He wasn't hurt -- just surprised.) It's evidently a genetic thing - like whether or not you like the taste of cilantro

Mrs. A -- I think it's a nice, slightly minty smell -- folks make catnip tea. But it's evidently much more to some cats.

Our cat turns into a wild kitteh when she plays with a toy filled with catnip. Her favorite, a life like sized cat nip stuffed mouse, gets batted, thrown and sometimes she catches it by demonstrating some crazy gymnastic feats. Gold medal quality for sure.

You know, I may have actually said that at some point, back in college...

The catnip we used to grow never seemed to attract cats! I wonder why.
What a treat for these two! And what fun to be able to observe them and take pictures.

If it hadn't been for the toys the cats would both be sitting in the box the toys came in and playing with it. They are such cute animals. Nippen or sippin lets have some fun

Or as my friend's sister (who grows catnip and makes cat toys) calls it, Meowy Wowy

Tammy's gift surely has gotten a great response from the adorable duo.

Vicki, your photos really do tell a story of investigation, playfulness and even love. Happiness for sure. xo
